21 Days of Fasting and Praying at River City Church

Church family,

We are in full swing with our 21 days of fasting and prayer. Below is a list of the different kinds of fast you could partake in. Remember the most important key to this is seeking the Lord and drawing close to HIM. Let’s give ourselves unto the Lord!

21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

Fasting Options

1. Daniel Fast

What to Eat:

• Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes, and water.

• Optional: Fish as a clean protein source (grilled, baked, or steamed).

What to Avoid:

• Meat (except fish), dairy, sweets, processed foods, fried foods, and beverages other than water.

2. Partial Fast

What It Involves:

• Fasting specific meals (e.g., skip breakfast and lunch, eating only dinner).

• Focus on prayer during fasting times.

What to Eat:

• A simple meal of fruits, vegetables, and fish during your eating window.

What to Avoid:

• Heavy, indulgent meals and unnecessary snacks.

3. Selective Fast

What It Involves:

• Abstaining from specific foods or items (e.g., sugar, caffeine, soda, snacks, or fast food).

What to Eat:

• Fresh, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fish.

What to Avoid:

• Any item you choose to sacrifice for the 21 days.

4. Social Media or Entertainment Fast

What It Involves:

• Abstain from all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and other entertainment like TV or gaming.

• Replace time spent on these activities with prayer, Bible reading, and worship.

Focus:

• Use this time to disconnect from distractions and deepen your connection with God.

5. Complete Fast

What It Involves:

• Water only (or water and herbal teas).

• This type of fast should only be done for a short period (1–3 days) and requires medical clearance if extended.

Health Considerations

• If you have health concerns, choose a fast that is sustainable and safe for you.

• Consult a doctor if you plan to do a complete or partial fast.

• Modify your fast as needed to ensure you remain healthy and strong.

Prayer Focus and Public Prayer Meeting

1. Intentional Group Prayer

• During this fast, we encourage intentional times of prayer in groups.

• Gatherings via Zoom or in person.

2. Public Prayer Meeting

• I will be calling for a public prayer meeting during this time of fasting. Stay tuned for the date and time, as we come together corporately to seek God’s face.

Keep These Things in Prayer throughout the 21 days

Unity of the Church: Pray for hearts to be united in love, peace, and understanding.

Healing: Ask for emotional, physical, and spiritual healing for individuals and families.

Breakthrough: Seek God’s intervention in difficult situations, including finances, relationships, and spiritual battles.

Restoration: Pray for broken relationships to be mended, prodigals to return, and faith to be renewed.

Guidance and Vision: Ask for clarity and wisdom as we move forward in our personal lives and as a church.

Encouragement

• Dedicate extra time daily to prayer, worship, and Scripture reading.

• Keep a journal to record what God reveals during this season.

• Let this fast draw you closer to God, aligning your heart and mind with His will.
